Our Sustainability Committee was established to provide guidance and recommendations on specific action steps to meet our objectives to give back to society, to support those less fortunate and to help protect the environment.

Sponsored by the firm, Committee members Ming Duong and Barbara Holden Lockhart participated in the UN Global Compact Young SDG Innovators Programme 2021, a development programme designed to accelerate business innovation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Pro bono work has always been an intrinsic part of our culture. Many of our attorneys volunteer their time on the Firm’s pro bono projects and at legal aid offices, and over the years we have donated to a diverse and far-reaching range of social sustainability causes, from environmental causes to supporting ethnic, religious and sexual minorities. We passionately support the fundamental freedom rights including the promotion of gender equality.

Helping children and our youth is particularly close to our hearts, and we financially support schools, sports clubs, universities, charitable organizations, and young artists across Denmark and the Nordics.

Environmental awareness is more important than ever. We have a great responsibility to minimize the impact of our activities on the planet, and at Moalem Weitemeyer we wish to lead by example. We undertake to use recyclable materials in our office supplies and equipment as much as possible, to use energy and resources consciously and sensibly, and we make demands of our suppliers and of our employees in this respect. We also financially contribute to initiatives fighting for a more sustainable world.

5 Skoler: This project builds schools for Syrian children living in refugee camps on the Turkish border. Children who do not have access to schooling otherwise. In addition to building schools, 5 Skoler funds teachers, school supplies and food and clothing for the children, so that they have a chance at an education and a brighter future. 

JunkFood: Founded by Michelin star chef Rasmus Munk and Lars Seier Christensen, JunkFood serves hot food to Copenhagen's homeless people. 

THE WHY: Promoting Human Rights through fact-based documentaries. 

Sabaah: This project works to improve the conditions for LGBT+ people with an ethnic minority background in Denmark. 

Care4Burn: Care4Burn works to improve the quality of life for children with burn injuries in Tanzania. 

Børnenes Kontor: Founded in 1898, this organization’s purpose is to aid school children from indigent families in the Copenhagen area.

Justitia: Each year, we financially support Denmark’s first judicial think tank whose purpose it is to promote the rule of law and fundamental human rights and freedom rights, both within Denmark and abroad.

Kræftens Bekæmpelse (Danish Cancer Society): The Danish Cancer Society aims to unite the Danish population in a strong, active effort against cancer and works to increase cancer survival rates, reduce the number of cancer cases, and improve life with cancer. 

We sponsor several events and initiatives made by the students’ associations at the University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University, Aalborg University, and the University of Southern Denmark.

We actively fight the increasing anti-Semitism by supporting organizations promoting safety and fundamental freedom rights for Jewish people outside Israel, including giving ongoing advice and regularly making donations to the Jewish elementary school Carolineskolen and supporting Det Jødiske Samfund (the Danish Jewish Society), AJC Global Jewish Advocacy, World Jewish Relief, and ChabaDanmark. 

We sponsor a number of local youth sports associations, including Hillerød Usserød Idræt, Hillerød Håndbold, Skjold Birkerød Fodboldklub, Jif Hakoah, and Fredericia Håndbold.

Veterans Charity Coffee: No law firm without coffee. Our coffee is provided by Veterans Charity Coffee, a company founded by veterans for veterans.

We have contributed to deaf badminton referee Jesper Søndergaard and his participation in the Deaflympics and sponsored Nicolai Aagaard's backwards-walking project Vend Ryggen til Mobning (turn your back on bullying). 

Innovation and Entrepreneurship are important drivers of economic growth, personal empowerment and productivity. We are deeply involved in the Danish start-up community, providing assistance and advice pro bono to start-ups and organizations propelling entrepreneurial activity, including the Copenhagen School of Entrepreneurship, Venture Cup, Venture Capital Investment Competition, TechBBQ, Innovationsfonden and InnoFounder, Symbion, PreSeed Academy, and Rainmaking Loft.

CIP Fonden: CIP Fonden has a vision for a richer and more sustainable Denmark. It is an independent ‘think-and-do tank’ to address the climate crisis, the potential food crisis and the current energy crisis, and to propose solutions to these issues. 

Tænketanken Axcelfuture: In recognition of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, this corporate think tank works to advance a healthy investment climate because investments promote technological developments and sustainable economic growth.

Kassandras Søstre (Sisters of Kassandra): A dynamic group exhibition focusing on contemporary art created by 15 of our time's most interesting female painters. The exhibition seeks to create momentum in Danish art history for female painters and push for a more equal and diverse market. 

Momentum: This Arts and Gender event took place at the historic stock exchange in Copenhagen in promotion of gender equality.

Hjerteforeningen: The Danish Heart Foundation funds and conducts scientific research into cardiovascular disease to improve prevention and treatment as well as represent the interests of heart patients and their families by providing counselling and information and through health policy initiatives.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF): The humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has been marked by decades of conflict, recurring natural disasters, widespread internal displacement, extreme poverty, and a fragile health care system. MSF teams provide emergency room consultations, assist at births, and undertake surgical interventions.

Red Cross: Millions of civilian Ukrainians are affected by the conflict. Red Cross assist with food  and shelter, healthcare, clean water, financial support, and with reestablishing contact between family members who have been separated. 

Broen Danmark: Broen Danmark enables vulnerable children and youth to participate in sports and other leisure activities and thus be part of a positive community in which they can grow and strengthen their belief in themselves. 

Mødrehjælpen: Founded in 1983, Mødrehjælpen is a social and humanitarian organization that supports vulnerable pregnant women and families with small children, especially young or single parents, by providing social, educational or financial aid.  

Danmarks Indsamling – Børn på Flugt: Children on the Run was the 2019 theme of an annual initiative between 12 humanitarian organizations and the Danish Broadcast aimed at helping people in some of the world’s poorest countries reach the UN global goals.

Team29: We provide legal assistance pro bono to this informal association of lawyers and journalists promoting civil rights in connection with arrests, trials, surveillance etc. in Denmark. 

We have chosen to decorate our office walls with works by artists from Scandinavian countries. First and foremost because they are relevant and wonderful, and because we find it important to support artists so that they grow and continue their creative practices.

Alongside our office spaces color-palette, which we introduced in 2019, the artworks that we have chosen and purchased capture the special vibe that we radiate at Moalem Weitemeyer.
